BIO

Award winning, Durham, North Carolina, USA–based, singer–songwriter Jason Harrod crafts intimate, narrative songs rooted in folk and blues. His live show pairs warm, unvarnished vocals with nuanced fingerstyle guitar and the kind of storytelling that thrives in listening rooms, arts centers, and sacred spaces. Harrod has a gift for finding beauty in the ordinary places. Through exploring his own spiritual alienation in song, he helps find connection and hope for artist and audience alike.

Jason embodies a blend of blues and folk wrought with an extremely strong country spine. He possesses a strong voice and confident almost 50s-ish presence and sound.

Jason returned to his native Durham, NC after many years in New York. He tours frequently throughout the US and Europe.

Jason Harrod is available for concerts, listening rooms, festivals, house concerts,  faith/community events, and select private engagements. He performs solo or with a band, creating an intimate, song-centered experience built around vivid storytelling, masterful acoustic guitar work, and a deep folk/blues tradition.

Jason is also available for songwriting workshops, artist talks, and community songwriting sessions. Workshops can be tailored for songwriters, students, libraries, retreats, arts organizations, and faith communities, with a focus on storytelling, craft, creative process, and finding an authentic voice.

“So you work 10 to 12 hours a day for the man in the city to pay the mortgage which leads to moments like this where Jason brings beauty into your home to 75 people which is a number that greatly exceeds the number of chairs you own and in beauty there is truth and in truth there is freedom and genuine goodness so maybe in some weird way you are thankful for those hours spent that cover the mortgage that allow you to be this close to something good.”
— Chris Fritz (house concert host)
